my CNY week
After reading yuppie’s every detail of what she did during cny . I convinced myself, that I am not too lazy to do the same. Plus, that’s the whole point I wanted to blog right?
Hmm, let’s see .. my holiday started on 15th.
15/2
Running some last minute errands, shopping. So liberating, nothing much.
16/2
I paid a visit to my bestie who gave birth recently… to a cute boy, Brian. A day different from norm. Purple picked me and we went to Veron’s house, deprived of breakfast (Lucky me, I had Milo) .. We stayed and chatted and held the baby till it was 3pm. So hungry for
We chatted so much in the car, about our lives, our work, etc. So much we had in common.
I never really was close to her back in school days. Partly, because we didn’t share the same class. And somehow I relate to her now more than before.
Dropped by at Chia’s to say hi and we quickly dashed to Sushi King for our meals. We ordered so much that I think the waiter was kinda traumatized looking at us and our table. Eating in an empty restaurant gives me pleasure. We (almost) had full attention.
I love that we had the time to sit down and chat (again), talk about our dreams and all.
I feel so much more related to her, again. How we have the same dreams, same fears.
But I lack her courage. I’m just sitting here waiting for happiness, contentment to appear.
After filling our stomachs, we went to meet up Chia for drinks. Catch up time, it’s so hard these days to get all of us together. Yuppie was furious cz she’s in KL while Purple is finally in PJ. Blaming me for not telling, but it was you who didn’t listen :P
Then it was time for Chia to go, obligations.
Purple and I went around browsing and doing some leisure shopping.
Went home. (Thanks Kel [aka Purple], for sending me home)
Went out again. Catch a movie. Then it dawned on me that was CNY is nearing. I anticipated no-work-days but not CNY.
17/2
Saturday came. What I did on the eve of CNY?
I clean. I cook. I shop. I drank. I packed.
Being intoxicated puts me into sleep with much ease. Warming myself under the blankets in my cold room, and time for dream...
18/2
On the first day of CNY? Left for Seremban. Headed to my uncle’s place. Had lunch. Watching kids run around. Nap.
Then movies, drama ensued (#1)... someone claimed he has good memory because he is a doctor and being a Seremban-ian, he knows all roads that lead to anywhere in Seremban.. after a dozen calls, a few rounds around town and half the tank gone, I was reunited with Bee and Dr L, we then headed to Terminal One with the rest. Hey Dr L, I think you need to rephrase, you only know the road from Seremban to Klang.
Back to topic, movietime, almost seemed like a ritual. Every year, on the first lunar day, we go for movies. This time, it wasn’t holiday movie but a gangster movie - Protégé. Starred by the suave, Daniel Wu. I don’t think this is his best performance, cos I have seen his best, in One Night in Mongkok. Storyline is just average. Some gruesome scenes thrown in. Other than the movie itself, watching a movie in T1 was an adventure. The seats, the ring-ring-hello-i-am-in-cinema, the loud latecomers, kids shrieking (wonder why kids are watching an 18-SG movie), heads blocking.. Yadayada... I hear you say, go back to KL and watch la.. hehe. No I’m not complaining, I just simply love old school cinema. I do, I do.
After movies, we headed to a friend’s to play cards. Another fundamental activity during CNY, if you do not know yet. As an amateur, my friends are pretty encouraging by offering to help me count, ALL THE TIME.
Another late night.
19/2
I didn’t fail to wake up early, like a kid wanting to watch the LION dance. We headed over at Adeline’s. Just right on time, the lion practically danced right in front of us, making us feel so VIP. The boys came late. Much to my disappointment, they did not wear their batik shirts, in hopes of rubbing shoulder with Mantin politicians. But I guess they did try, sitting at the VIP table even though not reserved for them.
Drama #2, Adeline’s fan fell on Johnathan. Nolah.. jz the cap. If you look carefully enough you can see it. Talk about, improvisation and full utilization.
Next stop. Harry’s house! I really like to go to his house. Very much. It’s like going into a mall on a hot sunny day. Every corner is filled with cool air. Cozy and comfy. But his deck of cards, had to steal the limelights. The boys tried to play with it.
By playing, I mean playing card games. After awhile, they all went woozy. Was it from the excessive graphic contents, I do not know.
Captain Harry is there so we had to follow schedule.. we headed to Su May’s for the mom’s famous currypuff and ice kacang. Drama #3 – someone broke something.
Next stop. Sooky’s! First time to her new home. Very cosy. Drama (#4) happened. Harry broke Sooky’s / her mom’s china ware. And they had to vacuum the floor,
4 3 men to do the task.
Next stop. Dinner time. We booked 2 tables for dinner. Adeline C Lai joined us, and a much to my annoyance, she sat beside me. Aiyo.. so noisy la. Say i am picky with food la, this la, that la. Hello, I am small size hence I have small stomach ok. And no icky stuff for me.. hehe. And non-stop about the longan lychee thing. Sooky.
Click *play* to see the camera shy Adeline
Next, Johnathan’s new mansion. Hang out there awhile and then home. Pity me, almost no one wanted to send me home.
20/2
Next day. Bee at noon. No one came. Another fact you need to know, Seremban Daylight Savings Time is +2hours, hehehe. Boys are late cz they went for futsal. Some serious injuries, legs skinned, ankles sprained. Drama #n, I’ve lost count.
Bee, Puichuan, Sooky and I visited Boon Siew who had to stay home. Her puppy, Gracie is a gem. Full of tricks.
Back to Bee’s again at 2pm+. It started to pour right after everyone came. So we waited till it stopped, and headed to Chua’s. And the whole process starts again, sit down, warm up, cards next. And then Harry left us, for Sydney =(
Next was Low’s. Another drama, Nic almost ran Jared over. Nah, kinda exaggerated.
Day 1 was Team White. Day 2 was Team Green, Red. and Team Black+white, until Gary gave me a weird stare.
^Here I am on Team Red, plus 2 keh leh fer. Damn kacau.
Last stop for first half was Julian’s. Exhausted, us girls.. went out in Jules’ garden for a breather while the rest was into another game of cards. Jules being a welcoming host – he brought us drinks when we were outside. 2 brownie points. Chin Hui, new to our clan, joined us. Being so loud, she frightened Jules’ neighbour into hiding.
Last stop was Tham’s. Weirdest thing happens to Chia. He got peed on. J-Dawg is cool yo!.
21/2
Had lunch with Ad, Kerl and Bee before heading to Chia’s supposedly 2pm visit. We wanted to be late for once. We were all bummed for whose house to go since only 1/3 of us left.
Gary, made many calls, to arrange for SoonLock’s farewell dinner. Then we all headed to Jusco to buy SoonLock’s a farewell gift. Then we headed to Eugene’s and watched American Idol. If you think 3 judges were enough, you’ve got it all wrong. There were more judges when I watched live in Eu’s place.
Next. Steamboat dinner. Sadly Adeline can’t join us. Being a scheming little girl I am, I sat myself amongst the boys. Thinking I will have quite a treatment. But, seriously they can’t cook. But their dump-everything-in-steamboat-porridge turned out so well that Eve from the other end of the table kept asking for seconds and thirds. I had a lil stomach upset, but lucky me, no diarrhea marathon. Unlike poor Eve and Tham. Adeline, this is one of the many reasons I am being picky :P
The day almost ended, we headed back to Eugene’s to chill, the classy way, with wine and all. Pure conversations for 4 solid hours.
Well, most of us did the laughing, Nic did the talking.
Yeap, you guys are on YouTube =P
I enjoyed a lot during this session. As times goes by, I realised there’s more to just sitting down and chill with your friends. Everything went slow mo for me, either I was really really exhausted or intoxicated. I would like think I am worn-out.
23/2
Last day in Seremban, Tham’s open house. We saw a lion dance performance.
In all, it was a great week. I like CNY much better than Christmas because it is extended.
